3425 14th Street “Country in the City”

Tom and Angela Rooneys’ home of 43 years is a 1900 Queen Anne on an unusually large sized lot of 100 by 240 feet.  The fancy fish scale shingles and the gazebo like ending to the front porch are indicative of the Queen Anne style.

The rear of the lot slopes down to a two story 30 by 20 foot carriage house and garden.  Very few carriage houses still exist in Brookland.  This carriage house is used as a garden shed and a sculptor’s studio.  Mr. Rooney taught at Catholic University’s Art Department for 35 years and is an active artist now showing in a variety of venues throughout the Washington, DC area.

As a special treat, take the time to enjoy some original Tom Rooney sculptures  handsomly nestled in the garden environments that he has created for them.
