1517 Jackson Street, NE, “Caribbean Home”

At 105 this old lady has seen a lot of change over the years.  Starting off as a single story youngster, she grew up to two stories early on in life.  After going through a mid life crisis twelve years ago, she decided to have a face lift, shed her faux brick siding and don custom-milled siding with a fresh coat of periwinkle paint.
Her latest inhabitants, Lauren, a landscape designer, created an environment filled with Caribbean and Southeast Asian influences, and Deyanira felt at home as if back in her native Dominican Republic.  A lush large leafed tropical inspired garden surrounds a deck and hot tub whose structure is modeled after the Mayan temples of Tulum, Guatemala.  Stone sculptures live throughout the garden reminding us of the presence of spirits and nymphs in nature.
