4113 13th Street, “Le Petite Mansion” Our name says it all—“The Little Mansion.” We had wanted originally to be fabulously wealthy by now, having a large mansion with a drop dead interior. We longed to stack the bodies up like cordwood. We came up short in our careers instead and made do with a 1927 porch front, brick row house.
However, our immersion into the history of furniture and interiors and familiarity with the many grand estates of this area did not go for naught. Inside and outside our house you will find an enthusiastic embrace of color, line, and texture which can only be described as Shabby Genteel Edwardian with no apologies for putting on airs nor giving up a longing for GRANDEUR! If we had a motto, it would be, “Martha Stewart does not live here but Their Graces the Duke and Duchess of Brookland do.”
